Rabbi Larry Sernovitz joined Hillels of Georgia as the CEO after a 16-year career serving the Jewish community and brings with him extensive knowledge in Jewish community leadership and organizing. He is excited to cultivate a dynamic professional team that will inspire thousands of students to deeply engage with the world around them and delve deeper into their Jewish identity. 

 

Rabbi Sernovitz shares with Hillel his skills in creating meaningful Jewish community and experiences. He comes to this position from Temple Kol Emeth of Marietta, GA, where he was Senior Rabbi. Prior to that he served congregations in Cherry Hill, NJ and Abington, PA. 

 

Sernovitz received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh and master’s in education from Temple University. He went on to earn his Master of Arts in Hebrew Literature and Rabbinic Ordination from Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion. He was a member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2023 and was inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. International Board of Preachers at Morehouse College in 2022. He currently sits on the Cobb County Ethics Board and is a chaplain for the Cobb County Police Department.  Rabbi Sernovitz and his wife, Becky, are the proud parents of three children. They are active members of the Jewish community in Atlanta, a city they proudly call home.
