You Can Make a Difference in Israel

Rabbi Max Miller

I love Israel, but sometimes, I feel helpless when it comes to the realities in the Land: I don’t serve in the Israel Defense Forces, I don’t vote in the Knesset elections, and I live thousands of miles away. As a Reform Zionist, I want a strong, secure, democratic, and Jewish Israel. I want Israel to have the ability to defend its people from terror. But on a more personal level, I believe Jews of all traditions deserve full legitimacy in Israel and an end to ultra-Orthodox monopoly on religious authority. I want full equality under the law for all Israelis: women, minorities, and LGBTQ+ people. Everything I’ve just listed is influenced by the World Zionist Congress, the Parliament of the Jewish people. By virtue of being Jewish, I and so many of us have a voice in what happens in Israel through the World Zionist Congress elections.

If you haven’t already, please register and vote REFORM, Slate #3 in the World Zionist Congress Elections. (If you are 18+, self-identify as Jewish, and are a U.S. citizen (or permanent legal resident). The cost to vote is $5 per person. That money goes directly to fund and maintain a fair and transparent election process. Voting began March 10 and continues through May 4th. The Jewish people need your voice. Israel needs your voice.

I also love a little friendly competition. As of right now, 65 people have reported to us that they voted. Meanwhile, our friends at Temple Sinai have recorded 135 votes. I want to close that gap. After you vote, please email me or Rabbi Rachael and let us know.

I love Israel and I want it to exist for my children and my children’s children. Right now, the most immediate need is to preserve Israel’s safety and its ability to defend its people. But in the big picture, I want Israel to remain a democratic and Jewish homeland for all its citizens and Jews worldwide.

VOTE TODAY. VOTE REFORM, SLATE #3

If you have questions, please ask me or Rabbi Rachael.

Am Yisrael Chai & Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Max
