Lift the Spirits of Food Insecure Women and Children

You can help those in need while maintaining social distancing. Pack and decorate 10 sack lunches and deliver them to Temple Emanu-El on Wednesdays between 10am-11am. Decorations can be as simple as an inspirational saying or a drawing of a heart or flower. It’s less about a perfect picture and more about raising someone’s spirits.

Specifics in the link below.

Mary Hall Freedom Village empowers women, children, veterans, and families to end the cycle of homelessness, addiction, mental illness and poverty. Temple Emanu-El volunteers have been providing sack lunches every Wednesday since early June and we have made and delivered over 7,500 lunches to date! THANK YOU to all who have volunteered! And the need is great so we will be providing lunches for the foreseeable future. Visit our page to learn more.

We do more than just pack sandwiches, we "feed the body and the soul".

Backpack Buddies provides food for children on weekends to make sure that they stay nourished for the subsequent week. Volunteers meet weekly on Sunday mornings to pack the food. The food is delivered to Chesnut Elementary School on Wednesdays to the school counselor. Food is purchased from The Atlanta Food Bank and other retail outlets and is stored in our synagogue.

If you would like to volunteer, contact
Lynn Sustak.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Backpack Buddies by choosing Backpack Buddies as your 'donation type' on the donate page. $250 feeds a child for one year. Visit our page to learn more.
